On Good Friday in 1999 our local All Saints Church in Curbar the service was Stations of the Cross. A resident Chris Senior had drawn sketches representing each of the Stations. These were place around the Church. The congregation walked stopped at each Station. The vicar talked about a what was happening, read the relevant bible passage; a short prayer was said and we sang one verse of a hymn; them we moved to the next Station. It was a good service. As I waked home I thought about the possibility of different members of the congregation speaking the words of actual Bible characters. These thoughts got stronger the nearer I got home. Once home after lunch I sat down and wrote down all thirteen stations. Jesus was not to speak so I had to find a way for others to say his words with exception of 'It is finished'. There was need for a narrator. Unlike me it flowed so easy, completed in the afternoon with only minor later changes .
